Lecture Series "Gender Studies meets Human-Animal Studies"

Kicking off tomorrow with a talk by Lynn Turner (the first of a total of 13 lectures), a new interdisciplinary lecture series at the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin co-organized by members of the animal studies network Chimaira brings together researchers from anthropology, biology, cultural and literary studies, sociology, and other disciplines in order to "connect central questions around sex, sexuality and gender with interspecies relations." Lecture: "Fellow Creatures? Imaginationen der Mensch-Tier-Grenze und ihre Relevanz für queer-feministische und intersektionale Perspektiven"

Among the lectures to be held as part of the upcoming GeStiK (Gender Studies in Cologne) summer 2017 lecture series will be a lecture by Dominik Ohrem on imaginings of the human-animal boundary and their relevance for queer-feminist and intersectional perspectives. The lecture will be held on July 20 in German language.

During the international conference "The Discourse of Identity," to be held at the University of Santiago de Compostela, Spain, on June 8-9, 2017, there will be a keynote by Roman Bartosch on the role of literature and aesthetics for the negotiation of identity and human-animal ethical relationships in the context of art and education.

This Thursday and Friday (February 9–10), the international workshop "The Situationality of Human-Animal Relations: Perspectives from Anthropology and Philosophy," organised by members of a.r.t.e.s., will take place in the facilities of the a.r.t.e.s. Graduate School for the Humanities in Cologne.
